Have you ever secretly wondered whether you were crazy? Now, Oakland-based performance artist and writer Gray de Young has the answer: You are.
(And thank God.)
Back by popular demand, “BURST” tells the story of de Young’s life in San Francisco, being diagnosed Bipolar 2, the loss of a family member, living in Vietnam, and the clarity that can follow confusion.

Directed by Tanya Taylor Rubinstein and presented by Santa Fe Performing Arts, “BURST” is a high-energy, explosively-honest look the unexpected sanity that comes from “being crazy.” It explores how our losses and shortcomings in life can act as catalysts to embark upon the oldest journey of all – the journey to True Self.
Sparkling with wit and insight, de Young embodies characters and stories from her life to present us with humor & tragedy, desperation & salvation, madness & modern life—and asks us whether or not they are different.
Hold on tight for psychiatrists, meds, espresso machines, cartwheels, Zen, death, sex, drugs, Vietnam and enlightenment—all in an 80-minute, one-woman show.
